BEGOÑA
Brazil · Cerrado Mineiro
Dark chocolate · Almond
Some coffees surprise you. Others are the ones you look forward to every morning. BEGOÑA belongs to the latter.
In Brazil's Cerrado Mineiro region, in the heart of Minas Gerais, lies Daterra, a family-owned coffee estate situated at around 1,200 metres above sea level. Over the years, it has become a well-known name in the world of specialty coffee.
Daterra has an unusual story. In the early 1990s, its founder Luis Pascoal began restoring degraded farmland, with the aim of growing coffee while protecting the environment. Today, a large part of the estate is dedicated to native vegetation. Daterra was also the first coffee farm in Brazil to receive Rainforest Alliance certification.
BEGOÑA is made from two Arabica varieties, Catuaí and Acaiá. The cherries are naturally processed, meaning they are dried whole, with the fruit still intact, before the beans are removed. This method brings out the coffee's sweetness, body and roundness.
In the cup, BEGOÑA reveals lovely notes of dark chocolate and almond. Delicate sweetness, a smooth texture and just the right amount of character. A coffee that doesn't try to do too much, but does the simple things exceptionally well.
An easy coffee to love. And sometimes, that's all you need.
