BIBI
Rwanda · Huye
Chocolate · Orange · Fresh pear
It all starts with a grandmother.
In the hills of Rwanda, she grew her own coffee, roasted it and enjoyed a cup every day. A simple daily ritual, but one that left a lasting impression on her grandson, Abdul Rudahunga.
Years later, Abdul decided to continue this family story by establishing the Simbi washing station in the Huye district of southern Rwanda. Built between 2011 and 2012, the station received its first harvest in 2013.
Located at around 1,760 metres above sea level, Simbi works with coffee growers from the surrounding hills, including members of the Imbereheza cooperative. From the beginning, the station has also placed great importance on the role of women within its team.
And that dedication soon paid off. In 2013, Simbi placed ninth in Rwanda's prestigious Cup of Excellence competition.
BIBI is a 100% Arabica coffee of the Bourbon variety, processed using the washed method. After harvesting, the cherries are depulped, the beans undergo wet fermentation, and are then carefully sorted and slowly dried in the sun. This meticulous process brings clarity and freshness to the coffee's flavours.
In the cup, BIBI combines the sweetness of chocolate with the brightness of orange and delicate notes of fresh pear. A lovely balance of sweetness and freshness, with a gentle fruity character that makes it truly distinctive.
A bright, cheerful coffee with a lovely story to tell.
